The lemur is a fascinating prosimian monkey that exists solely in Madagascar. 160 million years ago Eastern Africa and Madagascar
began to split apart. Lemurs suddenly appeared in the Madagascan fossil record, some fully evolved, around 50 million years ago,
at a time when they were already alive on the mainland (soon to be wiped out by competitive species). On the island, without any
dominant predators, they conquered every niche of the island, evolving into over 80 fantastic species, ranging from sloth and nocturnal dwarf
lemurs to ones the size of an orangutan. Yet the question remains - how did they get there? The most accepted theory is that their
small size allowed them to float there on tangled vegetation or fallen logs; quite certainly one of the more epic joy rides in
evolutionary history. The song is a detailed account of their story, and has been our band's theme since 2010.

Plum Sutra evolved out of a Zen meditation friendship in Portland, 2008. Seth (Piano) and Linton (Drums) collaborated to ... more unfold rich instrumentals of a surreal, cinematic nature. Connor Wade (Violin, Mandolin, Trumpet) joined them shortly thereafter, thus creating jazzish rock soundscapes evoking different places and creatures through lush instrumentation, celebrating the euphoric spirit of life. less

sticks and cones scattered on the earth
ferocious pipes and cement blocks

Thunderclouds drownin' in the sky
a Little Laugh, a little sigh
pine trees swayin' in the drizzle
this breeze is blowin drippy riddles
and with the lightning comes the flame
depleted earth burned to life again
and through the billowing smoke the sun rises red as rose
a hot reminder of fortune's woes
champion through this stony briar
